The Royal Bank of ScotlandRBS Schools Programme

Introduction to Schools Programme

Our RBS Schools Programme takes place during August, in tandem with the public programme. It's packed with events featuring the best writing for children and teens, with a focus firmly on participation, imagination and creation. All events take place in a specially created tented village in the heart of Edinburgh, a young person-friendly environment!

Bring your pupils face-to-face with their favourite authors and brand new writers at our events and book signings. Events take many forms from author interviews and Q&A sessions, to creative workshops on writing and crafts, to dramatisation and interactive storytelling using props and costumes. There are events designed for every year group, primary and secondary, as well as our CPD events for teachers and other education workers, which are led by experts in the field of education.

Primary schools have the Book Festival all to themselves on RBS Gala Day, which takes place on the last day of the festival each year. An extravaganza of world class authors, storytelling, illustration, jokes and magic; it's a day chock-full of fun and learning.

Come and join in the fun at the largest festival of author and arts events for children in the world!
