The Book Festival is committed to ensuring that at all stages of our operation we aim to continually reduce our environmental impact and increase our sustainability.

Edinburgh International Book Festival is committed to:

• Following the practice of reduce, reuse and recycle
• Purchasing biodegradable and recycled products where possible
• Enabling our audience to recycle as much as possible on site
• The most efficient use of water and energy
• Using energy efficient products where possible
• Reducing the amount of domestic air travel and maximising the use of alternative transport
• Sourcing locally produced products where possible
• Complying with the requirements of environmental legislation and approved codes of practice
• Encouraging participation and training employees in environmental matters
• Sharing knowledge and best practice
• Continue to provide a forum for discussion for environmental issues
