When can I download a Press Pack?
The programme for the 2009 Edinburgh International Book Festival was announced on Thursday 11 June at our Press Launch. Download the 2009 Press Pack here.
Where is the Press Office?
The Press Office will be situated in the heart of the Book Festival in Charlotte Square Gardens and will be open daily from 9.30am to 8.30pm from Saturday 15th August to Monday 31st August 2009. We provide quiet space for interviews, radio and TV recording, a separate working space for photographers, unlimited coffee, breakfast (if you're there early enough), daily newspapers and good company all day. We have fast wireless broadband but do not provide computers - please bring your own laptop.
How do I get a Press Pass?
All journalists, photographers and broadcasters must pre-register to qualify for press accreditation - please click on the Accreditation page. Accreditation will open on Thursday 11 June 2009. Please note your press pass does not admit you to any events - tickets need to be reserved with the Press Office.
Press passes can be collected from the Press Office at Charlotte Square Gardens from 9.30am on Saturday 15th August. No press passes will be posted out.
How do I get tickets to events?
Once you receive your accreditation confirmation, you will be sent a ticket request form - please complete this and return to us, and we will allocate one ticket per publication per event. Press tickets can be collected from the Press Office in Charlotte Square on the day of the event.
How do I get photographs of events?
We have a library of high resolution Book Festival images - please contact us for details. A limited selection of high resolution images are available for download from the website under Press Images.
Photographers for the 2009 Book Festival are welcome - please can you complete an accreditation form.
Photocalls for authors and specific events will be arranged daily, and an email invitation sent out to all photographers the previous day. Once you have accredited as a photographer you will automatically be added to this list.
How do I arrange interviews with authors and participants?
All requests to interview authors, participants and staff at the 2009 Edinburgh International Book Festival should be directed through the press office. Please contact us on press@edbookfest.co.uk and we will do everything we can to facilitate your request.
Can I film or record events?
This may be possible for some events, with the permission of the participants. Please contact press@edbookfest.co.uk well in advance of the Festival and we will do everything we can to facilitate your request.
Film footage
If you would like film footage of the Book Festival, of Edinburgh at festival time or of the International, Film or Fringe Festivals, we have produced an Electronic Press Kit, available to help you more easily present Edinburgh and the festivals in broadcast and other media coverage. Please see the videos below which give a flavour of what footage is available.
If you would like us to send you a copy of the Electronic Press Kit on DVD or would like more information please contact press@edbookfest.co.uk
We can also supply footage on DVD, digiBeta or other high definition formats.
The Festival's Electronic Press Kit was produced by Edinburgh International Book Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Edinburgh Inspiring Capital with the help of VisitScotland.
Our grateful thanks go to all the artists and companies who helped to make this project possible.
