The Book Festival's for everyone so even if you couldn't make it down to Charlotte Square Gardens last year you needn't miss out...

Get a flavour of the unique Book Festival atmosphere through our lively podcasts; featuring author chats, event excerpts and interesting snippets. Or listen to a whole event from a selection of 2007 highlights including the likes of Richard Dawkins, Alice Munro, Norman Mailer, Alan Bennett, Jacqueline Wilson, Germaine Greer and Andrew Marr. Catch great events from previous years too in our audio/transcription archives.

Just added, and soon to be expanding, is our new video recordings section of exciting, one-off, 2007 Book Festival events. Enjoy!

Technical Requirements

Get Windows Media PlayerOur audio and video recordings are playable on most PCs and Macs if you have Windows Media Player. If you don't have it, you can download it for PC, free by clicking on the icon on the right.

Microsoft no longer makes a Mac-compatible version of Windows Media Player. If you need to, you can download a free QuickTime add-on (Windows Media Components for QuickTime) from a company called Flip4Mac.

Although our audio files are quite large they are hosted on a special 'streaming server' which means that even on a slower modem connection you should be able to start listening to the recordings very quickly, as the media player downloads enough information to start playing without waiting to download the whole file.
