Edinburgh International Book Festival

Book Festival dates for 2006 are 12 - 28 August 2006.

Booking opens at 9.30am on 16 June.

What's On?

Meet your favourite authors. Choose from over 650 events, join a debate, do a workshop or simply relax with friends on the grass. Come ready to be inspired, challenged, enlightened and entertained... or just sit back and soak up the festival atmosphere.

Browse Our Books

There are two well-stocked bookshops in Charlotte Square Gardens where you can browse to your heart's content. Both bookshops are owned and operated by the festival with all profits made from the books you buy going straight back into making the festival better, for readers and writers alike.

Bring Your Children

The Book Festival offers events of every kind for children of all ages. And the gardens are a unique, family friendly space for children to play, read, dream and picnic.

Eat and Drink

There's plenty to eat and drink at the Book Festival. Cold drinks, speedy pick-me-ups and delicious light meals. Luxury cappuccinos and lattes and gorgeous home made cakes.

Be Creative

Try out some new writing of your own! We have all kinds of help, support and advice for budding, as well as established, writers.

Live Music

The Book Festival opens all day and late into the evening and the bar in the Spiegeltent opens every night from 9pm until late with live music for that festival buzz.
