Jason
Donald ...
Jason Donald took the literary world by storm in 2009 with his stunningly emotive debut, Choke Chain. Hailed by readers and critics alike, Choke Chain was described by the Scotland on Sunday as doing ‘what a good debut novel should: whetting the reader's appetite for the next book’. It’s set in 1980s South Africa where Donald spent his childhood, and given that he remembers his childhood as being a very good one, his book is not autobiographical – the boys in Choke Chain are positively tortured by their author. At sixteen, he left South Africa to return to Scotland, his birthplace. Donald, who has been interviewed for the Scotsman and The List, is now based in Glasgow where he lives with his wife.
