Rahul
Bhattacharya ...
Born in 1979, Rahul Bhattacharya lives in New Delhi, and works as a cricket journalist (writing for ESPN and the Guardian) and contributing editor with Wisden Asia Cricket. Already the author of Pundits from Pakistan, a work of reportage on the cricket competition between India and Pakistan, he has now completed his first novel, The Sly Company of People Who Care. The story follows a young cricket journalist desperate to ‘escape the deadness of his life’ (not too autobiographical we hope…) and his move to Guyana, a forgotten, beautiful and beguiling colonial society. It’s a book which captures the heady adventures of travel, the overheated restlessness of youth, and the paradoxes of searching for life's meaning in the escape from home.
Watch Rahul speak at the PEN World Voices Festival here and read about his experiences growing up India in the Guardian.
