André Dao: Inheriting the Past  

Melbourne-based writer, artist, and activist, André Dao discusses his anticipated debut novel, Anam, featuring a narrator haunted by his grandfather’s ten-year imprisonment by the Communist government in Vietnam’s notorious Chi Hoa prison. In a globe-spanning story following an endless series of wars and displacements, Anam blends fiction, essay, and theory to imagine history which has been repressed and forgotten by archives and by families.
