Three lauded authors discuss how the past, present, and future of language is explored in their respective books. Irene Vallejo’s Papyrus, is a bestselling history of books and libraries in the ancient world; R F Kuang’s historical novel Babel is set in the Oxford Royal Institute of Translation; and Kübra Gümüşy’s Speaking and Being is an exploration of how language can shape our thinking and determine our politics.
