Michael Palin

Every family has a story, but sometimes there are missing pieces to the narrative. Ever since Michael Palin first heard his grandfather had a brother who was born in 1884 and died in the Battle of the Somme in 1916, he was determined to learn more about him. In this special Edinburgh International Book Festival event, Palin will share his dogged detective work to uncover the person behind the story and how Palin was inspired to walk the route that Harry took on the final day of his life. This is Palin’s labour of love, a tribute to an ordinary man and his extraordinary life.

Doors open at 18:30. Pre-signed books are available as an additional purchase at check-out with collection in-person in the venue.
