Ned Boulting is one of the UK’s best-known voices of cycling. In 2020, Boulting bought a two-minute length of ageing Pathé news film, featuring a stage of the 1923 Tour de France race. He undertook an investigation of every frame: a journey of discovery about France and the mysterious men who raced a century ago. 1923 is the captivating result which he discusses today with long-distance cyclist Emily Chappell.
