Two thrillers take us to dystopian, and unnervingly feasible, futures. The world has run out of water in Rachelle Atalla’s novel Thirsty Animals in which a woman returns to her family home in the Scottish Borders and waits for the rain to come. In Ever Dundas’ novel, HellSans, a ubiquitous government-mandated typeface controls the UK population, while those allergic to the technology face persecution from society. Chaired by Eilidh Akilade.
