The Novels that Shaped Our World
Fri 9 Aug 11:30 - 12:30
Spark Theatre on George Street
A BBC Special Event
To mark the 300th anniversary of Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, widely considered to be the first English language novel, a new BBC television series to be broadcast this autumn will explore the novels that have shaped our world. Ahead of the series, BBC Radio 2’s Book Club will be asking guests to discuss the novels that have shaped their worlds, from the established classics to the popular contemporary hits, and possibly some interesting surprises. The panel is keen to hear your views on what might count as the most significant novels in history, so join Stig Abell, journalist and editor of the Times Literary Supplement, and novelists Alexander McCall Smith and Kit de Waal for this event.
