Our work with communities
Find out where the Book Festival pops up that you wouldn't expect
The tents might get packed away, the Bookshop retired until next summer swings around – but did you know that beyond August, our work continues all year long as we spread the power of words and ideas through our ongoing community projects?
Our current projects

Paper Trails
Supporting Edinburgh Libraries and the Streetreads Library to deliver work in the community through our ambitious multi-year partnership.
Story Nation
Connecting authors and artists through community partners with people in hospitals, prisons, and spaces for older adults experiencing isolation.
Young People
Delivering projects from writing groups like Citizen Collective to residencies and referral-based projects with mental health and education partners.
Our community partners
Working with communities in Edinburgh, and beyond
Our Communities work is rooted in collaboration with local partners and organisations working year round to meet people where they are. Find out more about who we work with to deliver our projects.
Where you can find us
Did you know we deliver innovative creative programmes and events across Scotland? From watch parties in libraries to poetry readings in prisons, our Communities team works hard to bring the joy of the Book Festival to people who can’t join us on site in Edinburgh.
