1995: Grrrls Aloud

Murrayfield might be basking in Oasis nostalgia, but the mid-90s wasn't all blokes and Britpop. Join BBC broadcaster and A Kick Up The Arts host Nicola Meighan for a celebration of the femme-powered revolution that was kicking off in Scotland, circa ‘95. It was the summer that Garbage released their debut album; that Annie Lennox ruled the charts with Medusa; that Glasgow's Delgados upturned the landscape with their songs, and label, Chemikal Underground. The band’s Emma Pollock reflects on that time - and its reverberations to this day - with Cora Bissett, Carrie Marshall, and Chitra Ramaswamy, soundtracked by a fired-up playlist, and live music from Hen Hoose Collective’s Cariss Crosbie. What’s the story? Oh, there’s always more than one…
