Book Groups
Are you part of a book group? Why not make this August your special ‘Book Group on Tour Edition’ and get the gang together to come hear an author at the Book Festival?
There are SO many writers joining us, talking about a multitude of themes and genres. If you’re into crime and thrillers – we’ve got an event for that. Love translated fiction? We’ve got an event for that. Fascinated by memoir, history, science and environment, health and wellbeing, or the very concept of reading itself? We’ve got events for all of the above (and more).
Besides just a great day out, we’ve got some special perks we’re happy to offer you and your bookish friends, including:
- a group discount to your chosen event
- access to our dedicated Book Nook where you can chat as a group before or after your event
- a special on-the-day discount for our Festival Bookshop, brought to you by Waterstones.
Find out more below:
10% Book Group Discount
We’re happy to offer Book Groups (of five or more members) a special 10% discount when you book as a group. Simply add five or more tickets for your desired event to your online basket and a 10% group discount will automatically be applied at the checkout.
Please note, this offer only applies to full price tickets to the same event. Five or more tickets for different events will not receive a group discount, and the discount will not apply to concession tickets.
Make use of our Book Nook
The Book Nook is a bright and cozy bookable space, available especially for book groups to gather and chat. Located on Level 1 of the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) building, it can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people, is wheelchair accessible, is free to reserve for 60 minutes, and will be assigned on a first come first served basis.
Details on how to apply for use of the Book Nook will be available shortly, so check back soon.
If you have any questions about the space, please contact feedback@edbookfest.co.uk
Can I bring food and drink into the Nook?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring food and drink into the space, though we would ask you to please be considerate of the groups coming after you and please tidy up your crumbs and dispose of your litter before you leave the Nook.
You’re welcome to bring your own supplies with you (a flask of tea and a cake, perhaps), or why not make use of the range of food and drink suppliers on our site (crisps and a rosé anyone?). You’ll find a range of food and drink options in the Festival Courtyard, and Canopy Kitchen and Courtyard on Level 1 of the EFI (please note this is located at the opposite end of the building from the Nook).
Festival Bookshop Discount
Our Festival Bookshop partners, Waterstones, have kindly offered book groups who use the Nook a 10% on-the-day discount to the store, located in the Courtyard. We’ll send you information on how you can redeem this offer via your Book Nook confirmation email. Please note, vouchers are valid for use in the Festival Bookshop and for one day only.
