The Ripple Project
The Ripple Project is a vibrant community hub based in one of the most deprived areas of Scotland. Working with local people in the communities of Restalrig, Lochend, and Craigentinny, they create opportunities, tackle poverty and inequality, and foster togetherness. Since 2023, we’ve been bringing authors and poets including Chitra Ramaswamy, Claire Askew, Doug Johnstone, Ken Cockburn, Marjorie Lotfi, and Sara Sheridan to visit The Ripple’s social club for over 65s.
"The Book Festival has helped us connect with authors and poets, bringing them to our community centre to join our older people’s Friday Club sessions... [as well as providing] free books, so group members were able to get them signed. The feedback from our Friday Club members has been overwhelmingly positive, several have picked up reading again because of these author and poet visits.”
