The Baillie Gifford Big Book Giveaway 2022

Book bundles for schools watching online competition terms and conditions:
 
  • Schools will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, in the case of excessive demand, the Book Festival reserves the right to prioritise applications from schools with most pressing financial need.   
  • Only applications submitted via the form listed on the Book Festival’s website at learning.edbookfest.co.uk will be considered.
  • Schools with in-person tickets to 2022 schools events are ineligible to apply.
  • All applications must be received by Friday 12 August; any received after this deadline will be considered ineligible.
  • Only Scottish schools are eligible to apply. 
     

Win a copy of Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart (ebulletin competition) - April 2022

Terms and conditions:
  • The promoter of the giveaway is Edinburgh International Book Festival. The Edinburgh International Book Festival has its registered office at 3rd Floor, 121 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4YN and is a company limited by guarantee (no SC 79939) with charitable status (SC 010120).
  • The competition begins on Thursday 14 April 2022 and is open until midnight GMT on Monday 18 April 2022. 
  • To be entered into the competition, entrants must email competition@edbookfest.co.uk with their name and their answer, by the closing date of midnight GMT 18 April 2022. 
  • The prize is one hardback copy of Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart. The book will be posted to the winner. No cash alternative will be offered.
  • The Edinburgh International Book Festival will choose one winner based on the answer given.
  • Multiple entries will not be permitted. 
  • The entrant must be over 18 years of age and based in the United Kingdom.
  • By entering the competition, the entrant agrees that their personal details (name, email, postal address) will be used for the purpose of receiving the prize.
  • Winners will be chosen based on their suggestion.
  • The Edinburgh International Book Festival will contact the winners by email by Friday 22 April 2022. If there is no response within 10 working days, the Edinburgh International Book Festival reserves the right to withdraw the prize or offer the prize to another entrant. 
  • Confirmation of the prize and instructions for delivery or collection will be made to the winner by email using the email address provided when the entrant entered the competition. 
  • To claim the prize, the nominated winner must contact the Edinburgh International Book Festival by emailing competition@edbookfest.co.uk with their postal address by Monday 9 May 2022 so that the prize can be mailed to them. Alternatively, collection of the prize can be arranged. 
  • Prizes must be claimed by Monday 9 April 2022 otherwise the entrant forfeits the prize.
  • Employees of Edinburgh International Book Festival, their families and any other parties connected to the competition are not permitted to enter the competition. 
  • The competition is in no way associated with, sponsored or endorsed by MailChimp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn or any other social media site where the competition is promoted.
  • The competition and terms and conditions will be governed by Scottish law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.
  • By entering the competition, the entrant gives consent for the Edinburgh International Book Festival to use their name and competition entry answer for marketing and promotional purposes.
  • By entering the competition, the entrant agrees to these terms and conditions.  
     

Book Bundle Competition with Rare Birds Books - March 2022

Terms and conditions:
  • The promoter of the giveaway is Edinburgh International Book Festival. The Edinburgh International Book Festival has its registered office at 3rd Floor, 121 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4YN and is a company limited by guarantee (no SC 79939) with charitable status (SC 010120).
  • The competition begins on Monday 7 March 2022 and is open until midnight GMT on Sunday 20 March. 
  • To be entered into the competition, entrants must email competition@edbookfest.co.uk with their name and their suggestions of the perfect book bundle theme, by the closing date of 12 midnight GMT on 20 March. 
  • The prize is one personalised book bundle of three paperback books chosen by Rare Birds Books based on the winning entrant’s theme suggestions. The book bundle will be posted to the winner. No cash alternative will be offered.
  • The Edinburgh International Book Festival and Rare Birds Books will choose one winner who will receive one personalised book bundle of three books (RRP £30.00), one runner-up will receive a book-themed candle (RRP £20.00) and one runner-up will receive a tote bag and notebook (RRP £10.00).
  • Multiple entries will not be permitted. 
  • The entrant must be over 18 years of age and based in the United Kingdom.
  • By entering the competition, the entrant agrees that their personal details (name, email, postal address) will be shared with Rare Birds Books only for the purpose of receiving the prize.
  • Winners will be chosen based on their book bundle theme suggestion.
  • The Edinburgh International Book Festival will contact the winners by email by Monday 28 March. If there is no response within 10 working days, the Edinburgh International Book Festival reserves the right to withdraw the prize or offer the prize to another entrant.

Random Acts of Kindness Competition – 17 February 2022

Terms and conditions:
  • The promoter of the giveaway is Edinburgh International Book Festival. The Edinburgh International Book Festival has its registered office at 3rd Floor, 121 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4YN and is a company limited by guarantee (no SC 79939) with charitable status (SC 010120).
  • The competition begins on Thursday 17 February 2022 and is open until 12 noon GMT on Thursday 24 February. 
  • To be entered into the competition, entrants must email competition@edbookfest.co.uk with their full name, the full name of the person they are nominating to receive the prize and the reason why they are nominating that person, by the closing date of 12 noon GMT on 24 February. 
  • The prize is one hardback copy of Again, Rachel by Marian Keyes (RRP £20.00) which will be posted to the winner who was nominated by the competition entrant. No cash alternative will be offered.
  • The Edinburgh International Book Festival will choose 5 winners who will each receive one hardcopy of Again, Rachel by Marian Keyes.
  • Multiple entries will not be permitted. 
  • The entrant must be over 18 years of age.
  • The person nominated to win the prize must be over 18 years of age and based in the United Kingdom.
  • By entering the competition, the entrant agrees to contact the person nominated to win the prize with details on how to claim the prize by Friday 11 March.
  • Winners will be chosen by the Book Festival team, based on entrants' answers.
  • The Edinburgh International Book Festival will contact the winners by email on Friday 25 February. If there is no response within 10 working days, the Edinburgh International Book Festival reserves the right to withdraw the prize or offer the prize to another entrant. 
  • Confirmation of the prize and instructions for delivery or collection will be made to the winner by email using the email address provided when the entrant entered the competition.
