Clemens Meyer

Clemens Meyer

Born in (former) East Germany in 1977, Clemens Meyer worked as a security guard, forklift driver and construction worker whilst completing his first novel Als wir Träumten (As We Were Dreaming), which won a host of literary prizes. Now able to concentrate on his true calling, Meyer’s second novel, Die Nacht, die Lichter (All the Lights), has finally been translated into English, after winning the prestigious Leipzig Book Fair Prize back in 2008. It tells the tales of those unfortunates who have lost out in life and love, and the quest for light amongst the darkness of modern times: ‘The best crafted, toughest and most heart-rending stories in Germany’ (Spiegel).
