Mick Kitson

Mick Kitson

Heart-warming tale of childhood, the strength of sisterly love and the power of nature.

Born in South Wales, Mick Kitson studied English at university before a brief stint in an 80s pop duo called The Senators. He worked as a journalist for several years, then went on to become an English teacher after moving away from his musical career. Mick enjoys fly-fishing for sea trout, reading, playing the banjo and growing strawberries. In his spare time he builds boats and writes cutting novels.

Sal and Peppa need to run and survive. Run from their chaotic lives in the flat, their alcoholic mother and her abusive boyfriend; survive in the forest with the skills Sal’s learned on You Tube. Sal needs to keep Peppa safe. So she plans and carries out the perfect killing and the perfect escape to a perfect wilderness. Police and Social Services are hunting them when they find one person in the world who can show them the skills, not just to survive – but to thrive.

Sal is a disturbing, uplifting story of survival, of the kindness of strangers, and the irrepressible power of sisterly love; a love that can lead us to do extraordinary and unimaginable things.
