Writer development
We couldn’t exist without the work of brilliant and thought-provoking authors across all genres, and their publishers, and it’s hugely important to us that you feel supported by the Festival. Beyond providing a platform and enthusiastic audience at our events, we want writers and artists to look forward to being at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, as much as we look to welcoming you.
We know how much goes into each book featured in our programme, so we select chairpeople who know how to create stimulating and well-researched conversations, offer equitable fees, the opportunity to make exciting new connections with other writers and artists, and expert on-site booksellers.
We also commission a range of original work, exploring and celebrating where disciplines collide and artforms can be reimagined, and we’re constantly on the lookout for opportunities to try something new with writers and artists. Our international networks mean that we’re in a position to help elevate the profile of global writers to Scottish audiences, and in turn develop relationships which raise the profile of Scottish authors on an international stage.
