Christopher de Bellaigue: Power and Politics in the Ottoman Empire

A foreign correspondent for the Economist and New Yorker in Turkey, Iraq, and Iran, Christopher de Bellaigue’s books showcase his expertise in Middle Eastern politics, past and present. The Telegraph called his book The Lion House ‘Wolf Hall for the Ottoman Empire’, and his latest, The Golden Throne, returns to that era. He joins us today, discussing the life of the feared 16th century Sultan, Suleyman the Magnificent, and his relevance to today’s Middle East.
