Leading US commentator Derek Thompson is an author, podcaster, and journalist at the Atlantic, and a self-described progressive. His first book, Hit Makers: How to Succeed in an Age of Distraction was a bestseller, and in Abundance - co-authored with New York Times columnist Ezra Klein - he argues that the current method of governance in the US is broken. Today he explains his belief that bolder, more dynamic government can counter the fear-driven politics driven by perceptions of scarcity and ensure there's plenty to go around.
