Leading US commentator Derek Thompson is an author, podcaster, and journalist at the Atlantic, and a self-described progressive. His first book, Hit Makers: How to Succeed in an Age of Distraction was a bestseller, and in Abundance - co-authored with New York Times columnist Ezra Klein - he argues that the current method of governance in the US is broken. Today, in conversation with Liz Lloyd, he explains his belief that bolder, more dynamic government can counter the fear-driven politics driven by perceptions of scarcity and ensure there's plenty to go around.
