Ekow Eshun: Meet the Strangers

In The Strangers, journalist, broadcaster, and curator Ekow Eshun challenges the public preconception of ‘the Black male as outsider’ with tender, insightful profiles of five fascinating men: 19th century playwright and Shakespearean actor Ira Aldridge, Arctic explorer Matthew Henson, psychiatrist and political philosopher Frantz Fanon, the great activist Malcolm X, and Justin Fashanu – the first openly gay professional footballer. Today, hear Eshun speaking with Irenosen Okojie, unpacking how their lives reveal unseen perspectives on Black art, culture, and history.
