James Birch: Adventures in the Art Trade

Daring international art promoter James Birch has played a pivotal role in the careers of artists as varied as Grayson Perry, Francis Bacon, and the eccentric duo Gilbert & George. Today, discussing his new book, Gilbert & George and the Communists, Birch shares his lively (at times absolutely wild) experience of introducing the duo to a Soviet Union in decline and a China on the rise, with neither country knowing quite was about to hit them, artistically or politically.
