This event brings two authors of heartfelt, electric works about coming of age when you have so much stacked against you. Slum Boy details author Juano Diaz’s life from a difficult childhood in Glasgow to discovering his sexuality and forging a successful creative path, while New Zealander Dominic Hoey’s third novel, 1985, illuminates poverty, crime, and dysfunctional family in Auckland with the author’s characteristic humour and style. Chaired by Andrés N Ordorica.
Supported by British Council New Zealand and the Pacific.
