Yet, despite numerous interventions over the last 50 years, arts provision in UK prisons remains inconsistent. In The Barlinnie Special Unit: Art, Punishment and Innovation Dr Kirstin Anderson digs into the history of the radical HMP Barlinnie Special unit.
