Susan Choi & Youssef Rakha: Geopolitics and Family Life

Author of the acclaimed Trust Exercise, Susan Choi's Flashlight is a twisting, character-driven mystery about the tensions of family life, spanning the Korean diaspora, Japan, and ultimately the US. And Youssef Rakha's hallucinatory The Dissenters explores the unexpected history of a woman who shifted identities alongside the evolution of her homeland, Egypt, and her children's attempt to reconcile them. Together, talking with Mohamed Tonsy, they reflect on the liminal spaces - and conflicts - created and inhabited by the tangled roots of dispersed families.
