Writer, artist, and filmmaker Xiaolu Guo is critically acclaimed in every medium she touches. Her novel Call Me Ishmaelle is the most recent incarnation of her astonishingly varied vision and talent – a bold, playful, gender-swapping retelling of Moby Dick that reinvigorates Melville’s classic. She chats today about challenging conventions, our relationship to the natural world, and trying to fit the whole world on a whaling ship. Chaired by Barry Pierce.
