Book Nook

Floor 1, Edinburgh Futures Institute

Nothing beats a cosy Book Nook. You’ll find ours at the end of the Level 1 corridor, on the western end of the building (by Nightingale Way). Designed for groups to make themselves comfy and discuss great books and big ideas, it’s got just two rules: make sure you book the nook, and don’t keep others waiting once your session’s ended. You can always carry on in the bar…

You can sign up to use our Book Nook from late June.

Reading Room

Floor 1, Edinburgh Futures Institute

Just can’t wait to dive into your new book, or meet a friend to discuss the event you’ve just seen? The Reading Room has been designed for you! You’ll find it on the Level 1 corridor, opposite Venue NW. With comfy chairs, low tables for coffees, and comfy blankets, you can kick back, get comfy, and lose yourself in a chapter or chat.

Families Hangout

Floor 1, Edinburgh Futures Institute

The Book Festival belongs to kids just as much as anyone else, and this dedicated hang out area is somewhere families can enjoy downtime between events (it’s close by the Children’s Tent and Kids Workshop) with books to borrow, reading tents, activity sheets, and some extremely cute mushroom shaped stools. There are also kid sized tables for eating and drinking – and a wee clean up station to help sort those mucky paws. It’s totally free to use, even if you’re not attending any events. Just rock up, hang out, meet friends, and let your children expend some energy having fun!
