Gabriela Cabezón Cámara & Xiaolu Guo: Revisionist Reinventions

Acclaimed author and filmmaker Xiaolu Guo joins International Booker Prize-shortlisted Gabriela Cabezón Cámara for an entrancing event exploring gender-blending historical narratives. Guo’s Call Me Ishmaelle reimagines Moby Dick narrated by a cross-dressing female sailor, while Cabezón Cámara’s We Are Green and Trembling fictionalises the life of Antonio de Erauso, a trans man associated with the Spanish conquest of South America. They’ll discuss identity, transformation, and subverting stories to shift perspectives with Sasha de Buyl.
