In 1993, Irvine Welsh wrote Trainspotting – a novel that became a cultural moment, giving us the era-defining Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie. With its long-anticipated sequel, Men in Love, the gang ‘come up’ again during the anarchic, decadent peak of late 80s/early 90s rave culture. But this time, they’re getting their kicks elsewhere. Edinburgh icon Welsh joins us to pose the timely question: is love really the drug all men crave?
