With his much-loved autobiographical works A Shepherd’s Life and English Pastoral, Cumbrian sheep farmer James Rebanks has given us a new, deeply personal perspective on working life amid the English countryside. Talking today about his quietly profound The Place of Tides, Rebanks takes us to the Vega archipelago off the north coast of Norway, and a season spent learning lessons in self-sufficiency from an elderly woman living at the edge of the world. Chaired by Caroline Eden.
