Malachy Tallack’s novel, That Beautiful Atlantic Waltz, tells the story of Jack, a Shetlander growing steadily old inside the cottage where he’s always lived, listening to music and reflecting on the past until the rhythm of his life is profoundly disrupted. The book is uniquely accompanied by an album of evocative songs, ‘written’ by Jack. Tonight, those songs will be captivatingly performed by a full band (including Tallack). There’ll also be the first ever performance of two brand new songs, commissioned as a coda to the album by the Book Festival. The evening will be chaired by Louise Welsh.
Supported by Sir Ewan and Lady Brown.
