We are looking for Front of House Supervisors and Front of House Assistants to join our fun-filled team during the Festival in August. These are on-site roles at our Festival site at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, Lauriston Place, Edinburgh.

The Front of House team comprises Manager, Supervisors, and around 35 Assistants. With over 200,000 visitors annually, effective care of our audience is vital to the success of the Festival; the Front of House team play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of events on site and the safety and comfort of all visitors.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who wish to build on their existing customer service skills in a high-pressure festival environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills, enthusiasm, and an ability to work effectively as part of a team are all essential for these roles.


Author Hospitality Assistant

Contract: Temporary, full-time: 8 - 25 August 2024. Thursday 8 and Friday 9 August will be spent on preparation and staff training during office hours, followed by a shift pattern through the duration of the Festival, working approximately 40 hours pw (with the possibility of additional hours up to 48 hours).
 
Salary: £12/hr, paid weekly in arrears by bank transfer (plus holiday pay).
 
We are looking for a number of Author Hospitality Assistants to work at the Book Festival this August. Hospitality staff are responsible for ensuring that authors receive a warm welcome and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere during their time at the Festival. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are outgoing, enthusiastic, enjoy teamwork, and have exceptional professionalism and customer service skills. The role of a hospitality assistant at the Book Festival is vital, helping to contribute to the overall success of the event.

Information about temporary Festival staff recruitment

We employ many dedicated and enthusiastic temporary staff each year including short-term staff during August and longer term staff from April/May to September. We expect hard work, commitment, an interest in the arts and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
