Diane Abbott: A Lifetime of Making a Difference

Diane Abbott’s journey to Westminster as the UK’s first Black female MP is borne of sheer determination. The child of Windrush generation Jamaican parents, raised in working class North London, and studying at Cambridge, Abbott has faced ridicule and ire on account of her race and gender, but has remained a committed activist for social change, and outspoken member of the Labour party. Talat Yaqoob speaks today to Abbott about her inspirational memoir, A Woman Like Me.
